FAQ
What is rake?Rake is how both brick and mortar and online poker rooms make a profit. Instead of playing "against the house" like in other casino games, poker players are competing against one another to win pots. Poker rooms "rake" a small portion from the pot before the chips are pushed to the player who won the hand. At most online poker rooms, the rake is normally maxed out at three dollars per pot, but this adds up over time, taking a significant amount from your potential profit in the long run.
What is rakeback?
Rakeback is the part of the rake that you get back either directly from a poker room or from a poker affiliate. With rakeback you are essentially being rewarded for being a loyal player and you get a certain percentage of the rake you have paid back each month. If you are a serious online poker player you probably pay hundreds or perhaps thousands of dollars in rake each month.
How will I get back my rakeback money?
Your rakeback money will be added to your poker account. In most cases, the poker rooms themselves take care of transferring your rakeback money. In a few instances (e.g. Ultimate Bet and Eurobet) we will transfer the rakeback money to your poker account.
Is there a limit on how much I can get paid?
There's no limit on how much you can get paid - the more you play the more you earn.
How does a poker room calculate how much rake I will get back?
First, the room comes up with how much money they actually have made off of you. Usually the room calls this Monthly Gross Revenue (MGR) or Net Revenue. To get this amount most rooms subtract any bonuses earned during the month. The room then gets the MGR/Net Revenue by dividing the amount of rake taken out of all the games you were dealt cards in, and dividing it by the number of players dealt in. There are some poker rooms use that use what can be described as contributed rake, where you must participate in the pot to have rakeback credited.
Can I get rakeback from a poker room where I already have an account?
No, what you can do instead is to see if any of the other skins (if there are any) offers rakeback and then sign-up for a rakeback deal via them.
